Japanese Art and Antiques Exhibition

24 May – 22 June 2025 | KODAS Brewery and Restaurant, South Estonia

A Meeting of Blossoms and Japanese Spirit

As 9,000 apple trees burst into bloom in the KODAS orchards this spring, a unique cultural encounter unfolds:
Hanami in KODAS — a celebration of beauty, heritage, and the timeless Japanese tradition of flower viewing.

What is Hanami?

Hanami (花見) literally means “flower watching” in Japanese — hana (flower) + miru (to watch).
Traditionally linked with cherry blossom picnics in Japan, hanami is a time to pause, gather, and appreciate nature’s fleeting wonders.

At KODAS, surrounded by apple blossoms as breathtaking as Japan’s sakura, we bring this tradition to life in a new and meaningful way.

A Rare Exhibition of Japanese Art & Antiques

Curated from the renowned Regelski Collection (Helsinki), this exhibition marks its first major international showcase.
VVisitors will experience a selection of over 100 highlights from the over 3,500 collected works — many never before displayed.

Highlights Include:

  • 🎭 Noh Theatre Masks — from mystical spirits to fearsome demons
  • 🖼 Original Woodblock Prints — including works by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858)
  • 👘 Wedding Kimonos — silk masterpieces with hand-sewn detail
  • 🎎 Actor Dolls & Theatrical Triptychs — in expressive, dramatic poses
  • 🗃️ Lacquerware & Urushi Boxes — functional art, rich in craftsmanship
